Autumn in 2002, I entered hospital by contracting pneumonia, at where I thought that learning on Chinese characters heretofore seemed to be able to used for the model of language universals. Spring 2003 at Hakuba, Nagano I wrote a trial paper titled On Time Property Inherent in Characters, that was focused on the time inherent in characters using the Chinese written language appeared in typical philological text of the Five Classics of Confucianism. After all, this paper led me the long road to try solving language universals in language.

1.
On language universals my early papers are frequently concentrated in quantum's situation applied from theoretical physics. But at recent papers quantum's themes are almost disappear at least from the surface of theoretical progress.
This notable difference  is occurred through language's whereabouts, that is generally called space at scientific field. One of my important quest has been  at this whereabouts description.
Physical space is very hard to describe clearly by my ability. Probably I have not been able to understand physical space for using and observing the situation of language models. On the contrary mathematical spaces are very clear by using minimum axioms and theorems.

2.
Another quest is occurred from natural language's quality.
Natural language consists of physical elements - voice and hearing, writing and seeing. But what being carried by upper elements are going over physical world - thought, remembrance, feeling and so forth. I ever wrote these situation using a sample that is a changing apple passing in the time.
This quest is paraphrased in concrete - physics and abstract - mathematics.

3.
Geometry is a field of mathematics, which I select because of being easily visualised thinking for my approach to the language problems. Geometry hands out intuitive ideas to me not using any formulas, for example even at the time of tea.I consent that geometry is the queen of mathematics. I also remember the saying of Roger Penrose, "We cannot get any deep understanding of the laws that govern the physical world without entering the world of mathematics."

4.
At the geometry field, now I am charmed to W. T. Thurston's geometrization concept, that opens 3-dimensional manifold to hyperbolic geometry's model. This model will probably hint me the new landscape for language models, that will show us more exhaustive language universal theory.

5.
What now I say as language universals is energy ,distance, dimension and so forth.
Brief comments on the three themes are time to time mentioned through my milestones to the upper steps for the research.

6.
The hardest theme has been in energy all through the research. But Perelman has opened the narrow and steep lane to the aim by physics-mixture mathematics approach,  especially thermodynamics-based means. It was a surprise which way was seemed to be the very hard way or despaired way at my present ability.

Mathematics and sculpture

 Mathematics and sculpture

TANAKA Akio
I have felt for along time that sculpture resembled to mathematics.
On august 2017 I went to the National New Art Centre to see  the exhibition Alberto Giacometti.
At that time I felt sculpture and mathematics' resemblance for having a total image to the object.
Giacometti made Bust of Diego in 1954, that many people admit one of master pieces of Giacometti.
It is true and furthermore it hints me mathematical approach to the agenda on language using fine theorems historically made by the pioneers of modern mathematics.
Why ?
A theorem has a vast history to resolve hard problems, which shows omnidirectional ways to the top named theorem.
Sculpture also shows the similar way to the top named real existence of human activity.
So I like  walk around a sculpture to recognize the unseen roads to the top named thought of a artist alike mathematician's approach.
I love the chair in front of  a sculpture to see a rather long time to think of artist's long way to a piece of work.
At this exhibition I was interested in small figures made about 1946.
Why he produced such works. More and more small to 1cm, all of which were entered to a match box.
They may be the starting points  to the big notions or work in  the future being familiar to the afar resolve of question of mathematical agenda.

SL 1986 and SRFL 2003

 SL 1986 and SRFL 2003

SRFL Sekinan Research Field of Language was established in 2003 for the study on language universals, that was the core theme since my youth time some 40 years ago in the 1970s. But real start was much later in the late 1980s.

In 1986 I established the Sekinan Library for the base of study at Tachikawa, Tokyo. At that time my main theme was declined to the study of old Chinese character’s classical semantics using the traditional study of the form of characters reading Qing Dynasty’s WANG Guowei. The study from the direction had not given me so rich results. I at the same time read some mathematical books influenced from Bourbaki that was the big stream in 1970s in Japan. Set theory represented by Godel was also the favourite at the time.

In 1990s I determined the direction of study only to language universals taught from CHINO Eiichi, one of the modern typical philologists of Japan. He taught me almost all the aspects of European philology that were unknown for me. In the various themes he gave me, the most impressive was the existence of the Linguistic Circle of Prague. Above all Sergej Karcevskij was overwhelmingly deep and moving. But Karcevskij’s  approach was seemed to be intuitive and far from clear descriptiveness.

I began to learn the theme hinted by Karcevskij while learning Godel, Bourbaki and Wittgenstein that was also gave me the big influence form the age 20s. I had frequently read Wittgenstein’s TRACTATUS. But my base of math was so poor and never became the descriptive use for language’s delicate phases. So I again restarted math from geometry that gave the most familiar and clear image for me. My intuitive image and basic math description were seemed to be able offer in nearly millennium days.

In spring 2003 I knew the application paper for the international symposium held  by a certain institute. I arranged the short paper for it till early summer and sent it. The paper was happily adopted  as one of the language and literature section of the symposium. The paper’s title was Quantum Theory for Language. It was again arranged next year 2004 as the title Quantum Theory for Language synopsis.

The establish date of Sekinan Research Field of Language  was 23 August 2003, that was the date of completion of proto-conceptive paper of Quantum Theory for Language at the hutte in Hakuba, Nagano. Now the time passed rapidly 10 years. All things are now  very dear for me with fine landscape of Japan Alps.
